Bophut Beach
Bophut is a charming beach on the northern coast of Koh Samui. Come here to enjoy the unique atmosphere, sandy beach, coconut trees, and stunning view of the neighboring island of Koh Phangan.
Recently efforts have been made to develop the beach for tourists, so there are plenty of places to stay and eat. The western side of Bophut boasts several luxury hotels, but there are cheaper options as well. However, given that Bophut only recently became a popular tourist destination, it still retains some of its authentic native atmosphere.
The traditional heart of Bophut is called the Fisherman’s Village, named after the local fishermen. Another feature of Bophut, which makes it great for couples and families, as opposed to the singles crowd, is the deliberate absence of nightlife.
However, there are plenty of other things to do and see in Bophut. Those traveling with small children will be glad to know that Bophut has both an airport, and a good hospital. Interestingly, Bophut also has many excellent dental clinics.
This is a great spot for relaxing, but the murky waters make swimming inadvisable. Do not worry, though, there are plenty of other available water activities, including kayaking, jet skiing, and snorkeling.
