Hotels in Bangkok
When you are on holiday for just a few days in Bangkok, you don’t want to make a mistake on your accommodations. To make your time in Bangkok most enjoyable and to allow you to see as much as possible, book a hotel that is close to a Skytrain stop. This will let you explore Bangkok in comfort, as the skytrains are air conditioned and convenient.
There are plenty of choices in hotels, guest houses, and hostels. Focus your hotel search on one area depending on the number of days you are staying and what you want to see. Here are the main districts that have good accommodations for travelers.
Banglamphu has lots of less expensive accommodations, and backpackers like to stay here along Khao San Road. Transportation from here is easy, and there are plenty of taxis waiting to take you where you want to go. The area has been gentrified recently and there are now many new restaurants and hip bars. There is an active nightlife here.
Siam Square is not the place to find a quaint square Trafalgar style. This is downtown Bangkok and it screams glitz and new and expensive. There is lots of Thai culture here, including the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. Since it is the main shopping area of Bangkok, you can buy what you need conveniently. You will find excellent restaurants here, too.
Chinatown is well located with easy access to the main train station. You will find boutique hotels and chain hotels here--from the moderate to the high-end.
Silom is close to Chinatown, but is an expensive place to stay. Some of the best world class hotels are located here. You can take a ferry from here to many attractions, but make sure to see Lumphini Park right in Silom.
Sukhumvit has great Skytrain connections. You can find hotels here from economy to luxury. Shopping and many nighttime haunts are close by. Most online websites have great hotel deals in bangkok.
