Beaches Pattaya
Pattaya is Thailand’s second largest city after Bangkok. While it once was infamous as a rambunctious party town, Pattaya has upgraded its image and recently has become equally well known as an exciting metropolis and a beautiful beach area. Part of the attraction of the local beaches is the possibility they afford for you to relax on the clean sand, turning your back on the urban bustle behind you as you cast a meditative gaze out over lovely Pattaya Bay towards the endless horizon.
Pattaya Beach
The main beach area, simply named Pattaya Beach, extends along the bay parallel to the City Center of Pattaya. Bordered by busy Pattaya Bach Road, with its restaurants, bars, nightlife and shopping, this beach is very accessible and tends to be quite crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. As well as leisurely sports like swimming, sunbathing and people watching, you can enjoy jet skiing, parasailing and boating.
Wong Prachan
Wong Prachan is a smaller beach at the bay’s north end that is known as a great spot for swimming. The turquoise water here is calm and inviting, particularly nice for family groups.
Jomtien Beach
Jomtien Beach is situated just a short distance from the center of the Pattaya action, at the southern end of Pattaya Bay. The walk to get there is not at all strenuous, and it is worthwhile in order to enjoy the serene, unhurried ambience of this charming beach. Jomtien Beach is a popular beach for groups of travelers which include children.
Pratumnak Hill
The upscale Pratumnak Hill neighborhood fronts a quiet stretch of beach between Pattaya Beach and Jomtien. Purchasing vacation condos within walking distance of sea has become a booming business.
Offshore Island Groups
Just off the coast of Pattaya are a number of island groupings, loosely termed the Near Islands, the far Islands and Coral Island. Many of these islands in this area have attractive beaches which are open to the public and are easily accessible by speedboat or ferry. You will be able to find some excellent opportunities for scuba diving off several of the islands.
