General information and Hospitals in Koh Lipe

Have ATM's can draw money. Money exchangers are available at hotels and small shops that give you a bad rate and creditcard cash withdrawals with a charge between 5-10%. The best advice is to bring thai baht before travel to the island, if need more money take the ferry to the mainland. Pre-book and pay bungalow or the accommodation you have booked.

Immigration Office are located where the ferry between Lankawi and Koh Lipe is in operation, open November to May. Koh Lipe has no Hospitals and dentists, smaller clinic should be open in the high season.

Internet is expensive and slow, mobile operators DTC and the AIS works on the island.

Koh Lipe is one of the few places that do not directly followed the development, which is good. Recently there has flown more tourists to the island then it can take care of.  Koh Lipe is still a paradise. However, one should note that there is a remote place, drink lots of water and do not push too much in the sun, dehydration is one of the most frequent reason for visit hospital in Thailand.

The high season from December to February, prior booking of accommodation is a must.

Transport Koh Lipe has no cars or taxis, so walk or hire a boat taxi, called (long tail).
The island is only about 3.5 km x 2.5 km (2 miles x 1.5 miles)
