Attractions Hua Hin
Hua Hin, a mainland beach resort on the Gulf of Thailand, is only a 2 ½ hr drive from Bangkok, making this a favorite vacation getaway for residents of the Thai capital, as well as tourists coming from farther afield. Despite its popularity, the town maintains a sedate and pleasant atmosphere … perhaps influenced by the presence of royalty. Hua Hin’s Klai Kangwon Palace is the permanent residence of the reigning monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Nature
Roi Yod National Park, in the area of Hua Hin, consists of a huge fresh water marsh populated by an assortment of exotic wildlife. Tour the park or simply relax on its white sand beach. For a change of pace, try a visit to a local pineapple plantation. Or hike up the mountain in order to explore Phraya Naknon Cave, an amazing combination of stunning natural beauty with an exquisite pavilion built right outside the cave by a former king.
Cultural Attractions
The royal palace tops the list of cultural attractions in the area. Although the building itself is closed to visitors, you may admire it from afar, as the grounds are open to the public for a few hours in late afternoon. Another attractive royal structure, Maruekatayawan Palace, can be visited.
