Shopping, or rather browsing can be an enjoyable experience in its own right in Chang Mai. Try visiting the “ware factories” – tours of factories manufacturing furniture, silks and items made of silver or brass, which end in the show room with the opportunity to purchase some of the goods. There are two large modern shopping malls, including the Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport, which features a Cultural Center where you can buy local crafts. However, please note that it is not actually in the airport but rather ½ km away. Chiang Mai has its fair share of traditional Asian markets as well, including a night market. Purchase trinkets, spices, fabric, handicrafts and more … or just people watch.
